You never see a gay actor getting asked what it’s like to play straight — to my knowledge, at least, there is no difference in how heterosexual and homosexual people fall in love.

Have you heard of Ban Bossy? It’s the new initiative from Lean In and the Girl Scouts that’s trying to ban “bossy” and similar words that are used to bring down girls that are ambitious, take risks, and speak up. By changing the way we treat girls who lead, hopefully our generation will someday see more women in leadership roles.

You can watch the 1:00 video with Beyonce, Jane Lynch, Condeleeza Rice, and Jennifer Garner here, or visit the Ban Bossy website

don’t read the youtube comments on this.

Rest In Peace Isa Sahmarli
I have some very sad news for all of you this evening; Isa Sahmarli, a well known Gay rights activist and leader of Azad LGBT, was found hanged with a rainbow flag Wednesday in his Azerbaijan apartment. It is believed he committed suicide due to the constant hatred and oppression of the Gay and Transgender community.
A friend of Mr. Sahmarli told The New Civil Rights Movement that “Isa was so proud to be an openly gay young man in Azerbaijan. He wore it as a badge, sometimes literally, and nothing made him smile more than educating people about LGBT rights. He was repelled by hate. Any kind of hate.”
I am honestly heartbroken because Isa Sahmarli was a young man many of us looked up to. To see him succumb to the hate is a major setback for the LGBT community, especially in Azerbaijan. My love goes out to his friends and family, and all those who have lost a leader. He will live on in our hearts, and in the work we all do to progress the cause of equality. We have lost too many, this must stop.
Sagolun Isa, Çox sag ol for your work. We will miss you.
